Day 5 (Wed. May 17/06)

Oklahoma City, OK to Dumas, TX

Pat was happy today as we had sun right from the start and she was able to wear shorts. There was a coin wash next to where we had breakfast so the bike got a quick bath.

We passed a wind farm in Weatherford, OK. Then, at the welcome Centre as we entered Texas, there was a good display of pictures for a wind farm in Deer City.

A flat top Mesa (Spanish for Table)

Signs of days gone bye. Buildings no longer used.

Leaning water tower, built to attract your attention

This part of Texas doesn't have much vegetation. It takes about 32 acres to feed a unit (cow and calf). Most rivers are all dried up and water is pumped up from a depth of 200-300 feet by windmills for the cattle.

We had a good visit with Verda Rae and Graham in Dumas, TX
