Day 19 (Wed. May 31/06)

Eureka, CA to Eugene, OR

What a day! we started out ok, sunny but cool. You know the signs that say "warning, Deer crossing" or something similar? Well we saw signs for Elk but didn't believe them until we actually saw some Elk grazing in a field next to a house. There were also a couple grazing by the highway. They seemed scared by the big rigs but ran out in front of a cargo van. Other than the Elks, all we saw was Interstate and rain. Around noon it changed to rain when we stopped for a coffee. We rode the rest of the day in rain with lots of road spray from the trucks. After 532 kms, we reached our motel soggy and tired. Looks like a good night to catch up on sleep.

We have about a day and a half of riding before we get to Lynda's in The Dela, BC. If there is no rain, we think we will probably ride right through to Lynda's and arrive around mid evening. If there is rain, we'll stop early in the day. We are on schedule so either way is good. The APRS tracking system is up to date and shows us in Eureka, OR.
