Day 17 (Mon. May 29/06) San Francisco
Tour San Francisco
We made good time coming up the interstate and stayed in San Bruno, just south ot San
Francisco. After booking a room and dropping the trailer, we headed for the 3 bridges
around the bay. It sure was nice riding without the trailer, especially on the hills of
San Francisco.
They get ya either way, but going around clockwise was the cheapest in
tolls. The 3rd bridge was the double decker bridge that collapsed in the 1989 quake. We
were on the lower section as we headed to the wharf area.
Coming up to the toll gates for the last bridge, we spotted the car in the 7th picture from last
with monster wheels and a rake that made it really stand out from the front. I think it was
a mid 80's Bonneville. After we had parked around the wharf, we saw it cruise by us again.
Trolleys and street cars
Fisherman's Wharf
This was an interesting area. There were vendors and shops of all kinds. Tee shirts, candy,
cameras and electronics, eating areas, souveniers and the most interesting were the human statues
like the girl in white and the man hiding behind the bush scaring people as they walked by. Anything
they can think of to make a buck.
