Day 1 (Sat. May 13/06)

Hamilton, ON to Pioneer, OH

Just as we were ready to leave, there was a fine misty rain starting so we got the rain gear out. I checked the APRS equipment to see if it was broadcasting to the internet and everything looked fine. At 8:38 AM we were on our way.

It was a good ride with the rain holding off until Detroit when a light rain started. On I96 we got to test the air horns. Both of us noticed a car coming on the the highway and it started over into our lane. A blast on the air horn quickly brought us to their attention and they backed off. West of Toledo we had heavy rain and lightning. From then on we were in and out of light rain until we arrived in Pioneer. We were still pretty dry except for gloves.

My APRS suffered some problems. When we checked the internet on Lisle's computer, It showed us still in Hamilton. I suspect the rough ride in the trailer cause the power cable on the GPS to disconnect and then the next time I checked it, the radio had changed stations.
